Roof Lanterns installed in Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire

Lanterns have gained huge popularity over the last 3 years and can be used in either traditional or contemporary extensions. There is a vast array of products to choose from in either Hardwood, Upvc or Aluminium. Most lanterns are between 2mts — 4mts in length with a central ridge of 1 — 2mts.

As the ridge length of a lantern is so short the external and internal finishing are very important.

Our bespoke Architectural Aluminium Lantern is the ONLY Lantern on the market that does not require hood covers at each end of the ridge.

A hood cover is a semi-circular cover about the size of a dinner plate that prevents the lantern from leaking at the point that the rafters join the ridge.

The TVW Co lantern is the only lantern with a neat square ridge, which has been designed to give total waterproofing.

Subject to your chosen glass specification we can achieve significantly better U Values than any Building Regulation Requirement, achieving between 1.2 w/m 2 k (double glazed) — 0.7 w/m 2 k (triple glazed).

Traditional Lanterns

Will have rafter centres of 450mm — 750mm, we recommend a lead or Slate grey coloured exterior rather than white so that the lantern blends in with the fabric of the building, the interior can be coloured to suit your interior decor.

We also supply bespoke hardwood lanterns that are completely maintenance free as the exterior is covered with Aluminium just like a ‘Composite’ window. We use the same external Aluminium Ridge cover as on our Aluminium Lanterns.

Hardwood gives you choices for interior rafter styling, square or with ovolo detail, also interior finial posts.

Round ball finials are popular on our traditional lanterns.

Contemporary Lanterns

Require a different approach. The rafters need to be wider apart to give a cleaner appearance and larger glazed area, usually 1000mm, or you may want a lantern that has no rafters just 4 x glazed units, with just 4 hipped roof sections.

Contemporary lanterns are normally black or a grey both inside and out. The ridge needs to be square, clean lines with no cresting or finials.

Ventilation

We strongly recommend an electric roof vent operated by a wall control, as lanterns are usually in the kitchen area ventilation is very important. You can leave the room securely ventilated whilst in or out of the home without the fear of an intruder forcing an entry.

They are also useful for allowing flying insects to escape in the height of the summer.

We can design and install lanterns to suit any size and any project, we also have a range of Aluminium Lanterns in standard stock sizes which reduce delivery time and cost.

Contemporary Flat Glass Rooflights

We have now launched a range of Contemporary Glass Rooflights.

The glass appears frameless from both the inside and the outside with a black coating on the glass exterior edge to hide the aluminium frame underneath.

The aluminium frame fixes down onto a timber upstand leaving only the clear glass visible from the inside. Subject to your chosen glass specification we can achieve significantly better U Values than any Building Regulation Requirement, achieving between 1.2 w/m 2 k (double glazed) — 0.7 w/m 2 k (triple glazed).
