GreenTech’s Green Roof System helps you construct a light weight and efficient green roof system on a wide variety of roofs and structures.

Built-in drainage channels allow water to flow through the soil into the open channels and directly to roof drain outlets. At the same time, each high-density polyethylene module protects the roof surface from root infiltration and damage to the roof membrane. The result is a robust planting surface, with sufficient root depth, that is more durable, lightweight and flexible than other green roof options.

Soils and Plants Sourced Locally — The conditions and requirements of every job are different and cost is always an important factor. Because of this, the GreenTech module is shipped empty to a location and plants and soils are sourced locally. Native plants and proper soils are usually more appropriate and can be more economically acquired at a much lower cost.

Economical — The modular advantages of the GreenTech System offer a competitive installed cost in both the cost of the materials and the ease of construction and installation. Traditional built-in-place systems, which often require new roof surfaces, protection mats, drainage sheets, root barrier, moisture retention layers, and finally the growing media and plants, are frequently more expensive

Simple Maintenance and Repair — The GreenTech green roof system is superior to traditional green roofs because of its lightweight, flexible, and modular design. The modular design of GreenTech systems means that roof maintenance and repairs can be easily performed. The modules are simply moved to address maintenance issues and then quickly and easily put back into place. With built-in-place green roofs, a complete cross-section of the system would have to be uprooted and taken apart in order to access a leak or make a repair. The GreenTech system makes it easy to locate a leak and repair the roof by just moving the module, then replacing it when the repair is complete.

Interlocking System — The GreenTech System is the only modular system with an interlocking capability to provide proper alignment and locking of the modules and also allowing for easy removal and replacement.

Fast Installation — Unlike many traditional green roofs, the GreenTech system offers quick and complete installation. This lightweight modular system arrives at the job site, either empty or already planted, ready for installation. Quick installation means reduced downtime due to weather. The GreenTech system can also be installed on a paved area for instant green space.

Lightweight and More Durable — The GreenTech modular system is lightweight and can be installed on any new or existing roof surface in good condition with structural capacity. The GreenTech module covers 14.5 sq ft of area. The soil depth in the module ranges from 5 inches to 8 inches due to the channels that run below the module. Soil depths can be as deep as required for a project above the 8 inch high module outside wall. The weight of the system is a function of the soils specified for a particular job. A GreenTech module is made of 1/4 inch thick, 100% post industrial recycled polyethylene and weighs 33lbs.

Flexibility — Because of its modular design, the GreenTech system can be easily rearranged after installation to meet a change in style preference or planting scheme. This feature also allows the GreenTech modules to be removed temporarily to provide access to the roof for inspection or repairs. Once the work to the waterproofing is complete, the GreenTech modules are simply put back in place without any disturbance to the plants in the modules. Often, customers need assistance in design and have particular requirements for a job. The GreenTech System is not tied to any soil profile and can be used with any soil and provide a secure environment for any plant. Because of its modular design, the GreenTech green roof system is not only easy to maintain and rearrange, additions are just as simple. No Proprietary Soils or Suppliers — We do not require that any particular growing media be used in GreenTech roof or any other applications, all aspects of the system can be customized.

Cutting around Irregular Edges — The GreenTech module can be modified easily with a sawzall on site to fit into irregular shaped areas. The open edge is dealt with on site, usually with a moisture barrier placed between the soil on the cut edge and a veneer or wall the module adjoins.

LEED Certification — A GreenTech green roof can help a building owner achieve LEED certification in a number of different categories. The module is made of 100% recycled polyethylene.

Stormwater Retention — The GreenTech modules can be filled with any soil profile to achieve any objective in retaining or moving water. There are no proprietary soil requirements. Water can also be recaptured for future use. The GreenTech system can reduce or even eliminate the need for on-site stormwater management systems.
