Roof De-icing and Gutter Melt Systems

Roof De-icing and Gutter Melt Systems

Roof Heating Systems are Fully Automated, Maintenance Free and Energy Efficient

Roof de-icing systems are fully automated and maintenance free to provide efficient roof and gutter ice melt solutions during the harsh winter months. Radiant roof heating systems can be customized to meet just about any type of roof ice melting need. Warmzone offers a wide selection of the industry’s most trusted roof de-icing solutions, including roof edge and valley heating and gutter and downspout ice melting. Warmzone custom designs roof de-icing systems for both residential and commercial roof heating needs.

Roof De-icing Systems Can Eliminate Costly Ice Dams

Installing a roof de-icing system is a wise investment in your home. In addition to increasing the value of your property, roof de-icing systems help to protect and enhance the life span of your roof. Radiant roof de-icing systems are easy to customize.

Roof De-icing Options

  1. Install heating element at the roof’s edge to warm the eaves and eliminate ice dams.
  2. Heat the roof valleys and/or trouble spots to facilitate runoff.
  3. Install self-regulating heat cable in gutters and downspouts.
  4. For flat roofs in cold climate areas, heating elements can be installed under the entire roof surface to protect the structure from dangerous weight loads due to heavy snow and ice buildup.

Heating Roof Edges

Warmzone RoofHeat de-icing panels provide an effective and attractive way to keep roof edges clear of snow. RoofHeat Panels feature self-regulating heat cable that is channeled into an aluminum panel for maximum heat transfer.

Another highly recommended solution is the RoofHeat STEP roof deicing system. The thin, low-voltage polymer heating element is self-regulating and can be discreetly installed under shingles (or other roofing) to prevent snow and ice from accumulating.

The ideal way to keep roof valleys clear of snow and ice is by installing heating elements along the length of the valley. The RoofHeat STEP heating element is the most recommended roof de-icing solution for heating roof valleys.

Heating Roof Gutters and Downspouts

Durable self-regulating heat cable is one of the most recommended roof heating solutions available. The heat cable is effective for roofs, gutters and drainpipes, capable of keeping your home or business safe from costly ice damage, frost erosion and dangerous falling ice. The RoofHeat roof and gutter heating cable is extremely effective and energy efficient.

Heating the Entire Roof

While this is generally not a recommended solution because of the expense involved, if and when this solution is practical, the most recommended system is the low-voltage RoofHeat STEP system.

INSTALLATION NOTE: Much of the initial installation of roof de-icing systems can be done by do-it-yourselfers; however, it is important to have a qualified electrician perform all the wiring for the system. This helps to ensure proper system installation and abides by the warranty recommendations.

How Roof De-icing Systems Work

Roof de-icing systems are fully automated, and feature three main components: a snow sensor (aerial or pavement mounted device), master control unit, and the heating element. These three components combine to efficiently provide fully automated, maintenance free roof heating.

The aerial mount snow sensor is typically mounted at the roof’s edge. The sensor detects temperatures and precipitation, so when the temperature is below a set point (typically set at 39° Fahrenheit), and precipitation is present, it sends a signal to the small control unit (mounted on a wall in the garage). Upon receiving the signal, the controller then sends power to the heating element. The electric heating element warms the roof surface quickly and efficiently, providing fully automated, maintenance-free roof de-icing for your home.
