Please provide a list of the different types of shingles/roofing materials that exist on the market with a short explanation of each. Out of these types, which is the most common and why?

Asphalt (or Composition) Shingles are the most widely used roofing products in the United States. They come in a variety of styles, shapes and colors, and are usually the most economical choice for residential and steep slope properties. The two styles of asphalt shingles are dimensional and 3-Tab.

Tile Roofing Tile is generally made from one of two materials: Concrete or Clay .

Roofing systems made from either concrete or clay are durable, aesthetically appealing, and relatively low in maintenance. They tend to be energy efficient, helping to maintain interior temperatures at a lower cost than other roofing systems.

Metal Roofing. Metal roofing products consist of steel or aluminum. Steel is galvanized by the application of a zinc or zinc/aluminum coating, which reduces the rate of corrosion. Metal roofs are great for any type of roof and offer homeowners a multitude of colors to choose from.

Wood Shake & Shingle Roofing. There are two types of wood products commonly used on roofs, both are typically made of cedar: wood shake and wood shingles.

Stone-Coated Steel Roofing. Stone coated steel roofing products have become very popular in the past several years. Steel is lightweight and durable, and with the stone coating, they look almost exactly like shingles or tile. These products are perfect for anyone wanting the look of tile without the heavy material, or the architectural look of shingles, but with added strength.

What are some signs that I should consider repairing my roof?

Some of the natural elements that commonly give your home or property problems are; hail, sun, heavy rain, wind, and snow. Having exposure to these natural elements typically leads to deterioration and permanent damage to a person’s home or property. Naturally weather changes and having just one bad storm can create lasting and negative effects for your property. That’s why it is very important to continually inspect your roofs and property’s conditions prior to seasons changing.

What benefits are associated with flashing?
