Permanent Solution for Roof Edge Safety Safety recommendations for the protection of maintenance personnel in countries all over the world are moving to a hierarchy of safety where collective fall prevention solutions, as provided by the KeeGuard system, are preferred over singular fall protection alternatives such as harnesses and wire systems. Collective fall prevention and fall protection can be achieved with the use of the KeeGuard system. Lifeline, fall restraint, and fall arrest systems require individual equipment and specialized training. In contrast, the KeeGuard system acts as a passive barrier and protects all personnel, even those who may access the rooftop infrequently. Our KeeGuard Roof Edge Railing System works along side your existing personal fall protection devices.

Materials

Our KeeGuard Roof Edge Railing System is a counterweighted guardrail system with 42" minimum. The system can withstand a minimum load of 200 lbs. in any direction to all components per OSHA Regulation 29 CFR 1910.23.

Railing pipe is ASTM A53 1-1/2 inch schedule 40, galvanized. Rails and Posts are 1-1/2 inch diameter galvanized steel pipe. Fittings are KeeKlamp galvanized type elbows, crossovers, wall flanges, tees, and couplings to meet ASTM A53.

Mounting bases are galvanized steel and have a rubber pad attached under the plate.

Counter weights are "green" totally recycled PVC.

Finish for pipe for handrails, mid-rails, uprights and counterweight connection is a galvanized mill finish to the requirements of ASTM A53.

KeeGuard Roof Edge Protection For Standing Seam Metal Roofs

Four S5U clamps are bolted to galvanized steel base plates. The plates span the standing seam. The S5U clamps and base plate assembly is securely attached to the standing seams with a set screw without puncturing the standing seam. A Kee Klamp type 62 base fitting is attached to each metal base plate to support the uprights. Base plates are custom fabricated to accommodate any width of standing seam.

In addition to using the Kee Klamp type 62 fitting for upright support, the Kee Klamp type 69 fitting can be used for standing seam applications to accommodate a toe plate.

Installation of KeeGuard Roof Edge Protection

Installation of KeeGuard is fast and E-Z and is accomplished with a few simple tools. There is no penetration of the roofing membrane, our railing system is engineered with counter balance weights and merely sits on the roof! If you have more than one roof level or perhaps have more than one roof, we package and clearly label each section separately at the factory. This makes loading the KeeGuard to your roof accurate and E-Z. Once on the roof, KeeGuard components are assembled with a 5/16" hex key. Uprights are assembled first and positioned according to installation instructions. The next step is to drop in the top and mid rails into our specially designed 135 Drop-in fitting. Torque all the set screws and you’re finished. Two people can install more than 300′ of KeeGuard Railing in one work day!
