Colorbond Roofing — Reliance Roof Restoration

Colorbond Roofing - Reliance Roof Restoration

Reliance Roof Restoration specializes in both new roofs and re- roofing. We exclusively use COLORBOND steel or ZINCALUME® steel and back up Lysaght’s 25 year roofing products warranty (see end of article) with our own 10 year leak-proof & workmanship warranty. Aside from your Colorbond roofing needs we also specialise in replacing gutters, downpipes and insulation.

COLORBOND® steel is an amazing product that is used for roofing, walling and guttering, fences, sheds and warehouses, and even insulated panels for cool rooms and specialist architectural panels for distinctive cladding applications. COLORBOND® steel is made with a corrosion resistant Z1NCALUME® steel base for long life. The durable, exterior grade baked paint finish resists peeling, flaking and blistering in normal weather conditions.

COLORBOND® and ZINCALUME® are registered trademarks of BlueScope Steel who introduced COLORBOND® into Australia over 40 years ago in 1966 and Z1NCALUME® steel to the Australian domestic market over 30 years ago in 1976.

BlueScope Lysaght is the roll forming business of BlueScope Steel Limited. Founded in 1918, BlueScope Lysaght pioneered coated steel building products, sold under Lysaght’s famous ‘ORB’ brand, was a major contributor to the unique style of architecture that still dominates the Australian landscape. Its core business is the roll- forming and distribution of the LYSAGHT® range of products and construction solutions. BlueScope Lysaght offer an extensive range of building products such as roofing and walling, fencing, home improvements, structural solutions, rainwater solutions, and house and framing solutions.

The zinc/aluminium alloy coating on ZINCALUME® steel imparts corrosion resistance of up to four times the life of galvanised steel. Prior to Z1NCALUME® steel’s introduction, galvanised steel roofing in general had a life less than the expected life of the building. Hence re-roofing, or costly maintenance, had to be factored in to the economics of any industrial development. With the introduction of ZINCALUME® steel, roofing now had a life at least commensurate with building life and therefore delivered real savings to the building owner.

How It Is Made:

  • Starts with a ZINCALUME® steel base. Z1NCALUME® steel has a zinc/aluminium alloy coating that delivers outstanding anti-corrosion performance.
  • A conversion layer is applied to the surface of the steel to improve adhesion.
  • A polyester primer is then baked onto the surflce.
  • Colorbond Roofing - Reliance Roof Restoration
  • Finally, a top coat is applied a specially developed, exterior grade paint that is baked on to ensure maximum resistance to chipping, peeling and cracking.
  • The latest COLORBOND® steel innovation is Super Polyester coating technology, ensuring the painted finish retains its “as new” look for longer.

COLORBOND® steel comes in 20 designer colours in the standard range. You can ‘mix and match’ colours with your fascia, guttering and downpipes made from COLORBOND® steel. It can be curved and shaped to achieve dramatic roof and wall lines suited to modem designs and because it’s a relatively light weight roofing material, it gives you the flexibility to locate internal walls and design a floor plan that suits your lifestyle.

COLORBOND® steel is also available in special grades suited to coastal environments where superior anti-corrosion performance is critical.

Insulation in walls and ceiling spaces can affect the amount of heat entering or leaving your home. The level of insulation required will vary depending on what roofing and walling materials you choose and whereabouts they are located on the design.

Of course there’s no way to keep the sun off your roof in summer, so it makes sense to use a roofing material with low thermal mass, like COLORBOND® steel.

The diagram above (coming soon) shows how colour choice can affect the amount of heat radiated into your home. Not only does it highlight the benefit of using lighter COLORBOND® steel colours in warm climates, but it shows just how important it is to properly insulate darker colours.

When installed and maintained as specified in the warranty (available at Lysaght’s Web site to download), we warrant:

  • that the LYSAGHT® roofing products used in your home will not corrode to perforation for a period of 25 years
  • that the LYSAGHT® roofing and rainwater products used in your home will not flake or peel for a period of 12 years
  • that the LYSAGHT® guttering, flashings and downpipes used in your home will not corrode to perforation for a period of 12 year.
